Chair of Thermodynamics relies on InLoox

Munich, January 19th 2011 – Ruhr-University Bochum is new partner of the Academic Alliance of Munich-based software producer InLoox. The project management software InLoox will first be used in a lecture at the Department of Mechanical Engineering during the winter term of 2011/12.

At present, the staff at the Chair of Thermodynamics is developing a concept for a new lecture which is supposed to teach students the software-based implementation of a project from the very first idea to the application phase. The course ‘Project coordination for Sales Engineering and Product Management-Engineers” will focus on the international coordination of various small and mid-sized companies and research service providers. Dr. Tobias Fieback, who is research associate at the Chair of Thermodynamics, was therefore looking for an adequate software partner which he found in InLoox GmbH.

“We indeed had the opportunity to use Microsoft Project, but the training would have been so complex that the use in a lecture would not have made sense. Then, I downloaded the InLoox demo version and tested it. The software meets our needs for international consortium management and is easy to learn”, Dr. Tobias Fieback confirms.

As a part of its Academic Alliance, InLoox GmbH supports universities across Europe to enhance the quality of project management. Thus, InLoox fosters the practical education in the field of project management. “The percentage of project-related work in German enterprises has been constantly growing during the last few years. University graduates who have applicable project management skills have it easier to start their professional careers”, InLoox Managing Director Dr. Andreas Tremel explains. “We are happy if we as an academic partner can provide students with a professional project management tool.”

The mechanical engineering students at the Ruhr-University Bochum should have the possibility to access the project management software from at home and during joint tutorials at University. Therefore, InLoox GmbH made ten free licenses of the single-user version InLoox Personal Plus available, so that students and teaching staff can use the project management software at two computers each for the work at home. Besides, InLoox provides Ruhr-University Bochum with two InLoox Enterprise Servers and 40 InLoox Universal User licenses that are completely free-of-charge. By that, teaching staff and students can access the InLoox network version in joint tutorials and the new web client InLoox Web App which facilitates mobile project team work.

All European universities that offer courses with the purpose to develop and implement projects in a team can join the InLoox Academic Alliance. Interested universities can contact InLoox directly for further information.
