Munich, October 12, 2026 - InLoox 26.6 takes care of routine work automatically, shows how projects develop over time and makes project data available to AI assistants. Companies stay fully in control of their data and permissions.
Routine work that runs itself
Sending status emails, creating follow-up tasks, compiling the weekly report every Monday: routine steps like these eat into project teams' time every day. With the new Automation feature, InLoox handles these recurring tasks automatically, and no coding is needed. Users set up rules that respond to changes in InLoox. Every rule follows the same simple logic: when an event occurs and the defined conditions are met, InLoox carries out one or more actions. Events include a new task, a status change or a newly added document. Actions include sending an email, creating a task, updating fields or posting a comment. Rules can be set up for tasks, projects, budgets, documents, time entries, planning, risks and more. Reports can also be scheduled, for example a status report every Monday morning. Automation is included in all InLoox editions.
“Administrative project work is essential, but many specialists see it as a tedious time sink,” says Dr. Andreas Tremel, co-founder and CEO of InLoox. “Automating recurring workflows is the logical next step. Teams work more efficiently and gain time for the project work that really matters.”
AI assistants with direct access to project data
With the new MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can read InLoox data directly. Users can ask about project status in the AI tool they already use, without exporting any data first.
This pays off when preparing for steering committee meetings, for example. Instead of clicking through task lists, budgets and risk registers, project managers simply ask their AI assistant which milestones are overdue, which risks are still open and where budgets are off track. The assistant analyzes the current InLoox data, summarizes the results and can draft the status report on request. Hours of gathering information become minutes of work, based on up-to-date data instead of an outdated export.
Access is strictly read-only: the AI can analyze project data but cannot change anything. Every request returns only the data the signed-in user is permitted to see. If a team member asks about a project they don't have access to, the AI can't see it either. Administrators decide when to enable the feature and can monitor how it is used.
“Many project leaders already work with AI assistants every day, but the AI doesn't know their projects,” says Dr. Tiziano Panico, [title] at InLoox. “The MCP server closes that gap. One principle mattered most to us: the AI never sees more than the person asking.”
See how projects evolve
Two projects report 80 percent progress. One has advanced steadily; the other has been stuck at the same level for three weeks. The number is the same, but the situations could hardly be more different. The new trend widgets in the project dashboard and sparkline columns in in the project list make these differences visible. Using metrics such as cost, progress, effort and risk, they show not only where projects stand but how they got there.
This is especially valuable for project controlling. When a project's effort climbs steadily for weeks while progress barely moves, it often signals scope creep or unresolved issues. Current values alone often won't reveal this, as long as cost and progress are still within the pattern obvious at a glance. PMOs can step in early, well before the deviation shows up in the budget. Controlling stops looking in the rearview mirror and becomes an early warning system.
“A metric is only ever a snapshot. Only the trend shows whether a project is gaining momentum or stalling,” says Dr. Andreas Tremel. “With trend data, PMOs can spot problems while there's still time to act, not after they've landed in the monthly report.”
