Faster adoption of modern project management, with greater control over infrastructure, access, and existing workflows

Munich, September 03, 2026 - InLoox today announced version 26.5 of its project and portfolio management platform, which lets organizations connect the AI model of their choice. For the first time, InLoox's AI features are also available in self-hosted deployments. Organizations can connect an OpenAI-compatible endpoint and choose which provider or infrastructure processes their AI requests.

Customers using InLoox Cloud editions can also connect their own endpoint instead of using the default InLoox model. Administrators can enable or disable AI at the account level. For project teams, the AI features can generate tasks from short descriptions, identify action items in emails, and draft project descriptions.

"Companies want the benefits of AI without giving up control. They need the ability to decide which model to use, where it runs, and whether AI is enabled at the account level or not. InLoox 26.5 gives them the flexibility to adopt AI in line with their IT and governance requirements, including in self-hosted environments," said Dr. Andreas Tremel, co-founder and CEO of InLoox.

The custom model integration is available in beta with InLoox 26.5. Its capabilities and configuration options will continue to evolve in future releases.

Import Existing Project Plans Directly from Excel

InLoox 26.5 also makes it easier to move project plans out of spreadsheets and into a central planning environment. Users can import existing data from Microsoft Excel or CSV files and continue working with the imported project structure in the Gantt chart. This preserves existing work and avoids having to recreate plans manually.

"Existing plans should not become a barrier when organizations adopt a new project management solution. The new import feature makes the move from Excel to collaborative, transparent project planning much faster," added Dr. Andreas Tremel.

Greater Control Over Templates, Comments, and Access

Additional enhancements give organizations more control over how teams collaborate. InLoox's new publishing options for planning templates combine company-wide standards with the flexibility individual teams need. Personal templates and work in progress remain private by default. Finalized templates can be published for selected users, departments, or groups, or made available across the entire organization. This allows PMOs and process owners to distribute relevant standards without cluttering the shared template library with team-specific content. Assigning an owner also establishes clear accountability.

The new "Read task comments" permission lets organizations give users access to a task without exposing the related discussion. A customer or external supplier, for example, can work on a task without seeing internal comments.

InLoox also flags tasks that an assignee cannot open because they are not a member of the associated project. Authorized users can add the assignee to the project team directly from the task, resolving the access issue without leaving the page.

A Unified View of Customers, Partners, and Projects

The new "Organizations" area builds on the previous “Customers” area by bringing information about companies, customers, partners, and their projects together in a single view.

For each organization, InLoox displays organization details, associated contacts, linked projects, comments, and change history. Like other list views, the Organizations list can be filtered, sorted, and grouped. Custom views, custom fields, and bulk editing are also supported.

Version 26.5 also adds an activity feed to individual contacts. Teams can use it to record and discuss important stakeholder information and see who changed contact details and when.

Greater Visibility Across Projects and Resource Availability

The expanded multi-project timeline gives portfolio managers a more flexible view of their projects. In addition to the project name, users can display columns such as department, customer, project status, project manager, portfolio, categories, and custom fields. Data can be sorted, filtered, and grouped directly in the timeline.

InLoox also improves how absences appear in the resource utilization view. It highlights tasks that overlap with a team member's absence, enabling project and resource managers to identify conflicts earlier and adjust schedules or reassign work as needed.

Other enhancements in InLoox 26.5 include quick time entry from the personal workspace, additional filters for global search, and the ability to search the preview text of emails archived from Microsoft Outlook as InLoox documents.

Availability

InLoox 26.5 is available as of September 02, 2026. The custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint integration is currently in beta and requires administrator permissions to configure.
