A project group consists of two or more sub-projects. Project groups are useful when dependencies exist between projects, for example across different departments, and each individual project may be managed by a different project manager. You can represent these cross-project dependencies in your project plan by adding additional projects and creating a project group.
Pleas note To create project groups, you need the “Edit Projects” and “Edit Planning” permissions – either through your individual global permissions or your role within the project. If you only have read-only access to projects, you cannot use this feature. The extent to which users can edit projects is managed via the user and role permissions in the settings (Administrator rights required!)
1. Open the planning of an existing project or create a new project and navigate to the planning section.
2. In the navigation bar (approximately in the middle), click the button with the Project Groups overlay.
3. In the window that opens, either select a project whose planning you want to include or use the search function.
4. The selected project’s planning will then be loaded into the current project plan.
Info You can identify a project group by the icon shown in the Info column.
Project plans are visually separated: all elements of each project are highlighted with a specific background color. You can customize this color by clicking on the color bar next to the project group.
5. You can add as many project plans as you like: simply search for the desired project, click on it – and its planning will be added to the current project group.
You can now edit the project plan as usual. Changes made in a linked sub-project will also be reflected in the original project.
To link the individual project plans, you can create dependencies between planning elements across different projects. This works in the same way as described in the help article Dependencies between planning elements.
Note If you do not have editing rights or no assigned role in an added project, you can see it, but you cannot edit it. If you do not have read rights in an added sub-project, the sub-project will not be displayed.
1. If you want to remove a sub-project from a project group, simply click the trash can icon next to the relevant project in the Project Groups window.
2. InLoox will ask you to confirm whether you really want to remove the sub-project. Confirm by clicking Delete.
Info Each sub-project will still remain available in its original project. The sub-projects are not deleted – they are simply removed from the current project group view.
