Line Item Templates for Financials

Since InLoox 11.15 (November 2024), you can create line item templates for project financial plans and entire financial plans (OpEx, CapEx or Revenues) since InLoox 12.

PLEASE NOTE You need admin permissions in order to access the InLoox account settings and be able to create line item templates.

How to create new cost/benefit plan templates

  1. Click on your InLoox profile picture and click on InLoox Account Settings.
  2. Under Organziation, click on the tab Financials.
  3. In the section Cost/Benefit Plans Templates click on New and name your plan template. Click Save.

Now you can edit this new plan template in the list:

  1. Select the type of plan for this template. You can create an Actual Capital Expenditure, Planned Benefit, Actual Benefit, Planned Capital Expenditures, Planned Operational Expenditutres or Actual Operational Expenditures.
  2. If you want to make this plan available for your entire InLoox Account, check the box in the column Public.

Then add line items to the plan by clicking on the edit symbol. A new window opens where you can add line items to the plan:

  1. Click on New, enter the name of the line item and click Save.
  2. Select the Group for the line item (Help article on how to create Groups).
  3. Add a Description, the Quantity and Unit.
  4. If the Group does not automatically give a Purchase Price and a Sales Price to the line item, fill in those fields manually.
  5. Add further line items via the New button.

Once you are done, click on Close to save the line items for this plan template.

How to create a new line item template

  1. Click on your InLoox profile picture and click on Account Settings.
  2. Under Organization, click on the tab Line Item Templates.
  3. Click on the New button. In the Add Line Item window, enter the Name of the new line item template. Click on Save.
  4. You find this newly created line item template in the list. To edit it further, click on the editing icon (pen symbol).
  5. Click on Unit to define, e.g. that this line item is calculated by the hour, or day. Click on Save.
  6. Then click into the fields for Purchase Price and Sales Price to add pricing for the unit. Depending on your currency digits settings and currency symbol settings (under Organization >> General >> General), the pricing may e. g. be $190 per Unit.
  7. Under Groups, select the group this line item belongs to, e.g. Support, Consulting or Impelmentation. These groups are also created in the account settings under Organization >> General >> Groups. These groups help you organize your line items when you select them in the project financials.
  8. Close the window and set the Quantity of the line item. E.g. 1.

How to edit a line item template

  1. Click on your InLoox profile picture and click on Account Settings.
  2. Under Organization, click on the tab Line Item Templates.
  3. Click on on the editing icon (pen symbol) of the line item template you want to edit.
  4. In the window you can now change the details and then click Close.

How to delete a line item template

  1. Click on your InLoox profile picture and click on Account Settings.
  2. Under Organization, click on the tab Line Item Templates.
  3. Click on the trash icon of the line item template you want to delete.
  4. InLoox asks you to confirm the deletion of the line item template. Click on Delete to really delete it. 

The deletion of a line item template does not affect financial plans in which the deleted item was used.
