Sometimes it is difficult to keep the clear overview of the planning items in the huge planning. The timeline provides you with the visual reference to all of your important planning items to get them to the brief overview. The original arrangement of the planning items will be kept.

To create your own timeline:

  1. Open an existing project or create a new one.

    For more information on how to create a project see Create a project.

  2. In the project, on the Start tab, in the Section group, click Planning.

    For more information on how to create a planning see Create planning elements.

  3. Select the planning items you need and click the Add to timeline icon  close to the Gantt chart.
  4. Alertnatively, click Add to timeline, on the Edit register tab, in the Actions group.
    The overview is enabled by default and all selected items are displayed.
  5. Your timeline looks overload, if you have a lot of planning items there.

    Create a clear overview by adding up to 5 planning items.
     Click the planning item in the Gantt chart or on the certain time period of the planning item in the overview in order to see only selected range.
     The selected range of the time area will be shown synchronal in the timeline as well as in the Gantt chart.

  6. You can adjust the shown time period in the selected range by moving the slide controls.
