Error: “Message: attempted to divide by 0 (zero)”

While opening an Outlook element (e.g. an email, calendar entry or task) with a visible quick access panel, the following error message is displayed:

“Message: attempted to divide by 0 (zero)”



This error occurs when using Windows XP and Outlook 2003. Missing Outlook Service Packs und Updates cause this error in the .Net Framework. To solve this problem, please follow these steps:

  1. Install the latest version of Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3.
  2. Then install all updates of Microsoft Office with the help of Windows Update Services.
